At times, it can get kinda tricky for me to get enough veggies for the day. I can only eat so much.
Enter smoothies. It’s an easy way to incorporate more plant-based foods into your day. Green smoothies aren’t exactly new, but the guys from The Good Stuff showed me that there’s more to life than just adding spinach to everything.
The Good Stuff sources local and organic ingredients, and then freezes them to retain its nutrients before they wilt or soften. After the smoothies assembled and frozen, they’re ready to be shipped to your door – for free! They arrive in an insulated bin and ice pack to keep the smoothies cold for the entire day, in case you’re not home at the time of delivery.
The smoothies are prepped in cups with a tear-away lid. After blending, you can just pour all the liquid goodness into the cup. No waste. No extra dishes.
The first smoothie I tried was the Thunderbird blended with milk: banana, yam, kale, spinach, blueberry, hemp hearts, oats, parsley and beet root powder. And it tasted great! Individually, the ingredients sounded odd to me, but the combination really worked well. It definitely provided way more variety than my smoothies that typically have 2-3 ingredients. More variety, more nutrition.
Another great one that I tried was the Diesel Monster: yam, banana, kale, Vega Sport Performance Protein Powder, peanut butter, cacao nibs and cinnamon.
The Wise Ninja – gold beet, banana, kale, chard, plain yogurt, dates, orange extract, ginger and tumeric – was far too left field for me. Perhaps I shouldn’t have blended it with regular milk… The guys from The Good Stuff are actually writing up a feature about which liquids go best with each smoothie, so keep a look out! Either way, I don’t think this smoothie is a good option for people who are just starting to try green smoothies.
All of the smoothies have nutrition labels. This is a great tool for those who really want to know what their smoothies are providing. Nutritionally, they all look solid – which shouldn’t be a surprise since a registered dietitian actually designed all of them :)
Each smoothie costs $4.50 to $6.00, depending on which one-time bundle or subscription you purchase. And as I mentioned before, delivery is free. For more info on their products and story, check out their website at thegoodstuffco.com!
