This post is going to be quick and dirty, just like a meal at Go! Go! CURRY! in NYC. After hippoCHAN finished class, it was already pretty late and we were absolutely famished! Waiting for food was not an option; otherwise my stomach would eat itself into a sleeve gastrectomy. (ha! get it? ‘cos I’m a bariatric dietitian) *crickets*
Go! Go! offers a bunch of curry combos from a no-frills chicken katsu curry to a grand slam of sausages, pork, chicken, shrimp and egg. I wanted to keep it simple, so I ordered the Katsu Pork Curry. There were four different sizes: Walk $7, Single $7.5, Double $8.5, and Triple $9.5.
Since I was super hungry, I treated moi self to a double… DOUBLE SERVING OF RICE, THAT IS. I thought there would be more of everything? I guess I didn’t really pay attention to the price differences, but who would expect that they would only double the rice. I mean, who would TRIPLE the rice?! Sadly, as a result, the sacred rice-to-pork ratio (as established by the Katsu Theorem) was distressingly defiled.
The curry looked kinda like dark goopy tar, but it actually tasted alright. The pork had a nice crunch as well. Too bad the crunch was muffled by the double mountains of rice. If I were to return, I would order the Home Run Curry ($9.50): 10 oz rice, 1 sausage, 1 pork or chicken, 1 shrimp, and 1 egg.
